Amy Wilkinson, LPC-S, BC-TMH

Amy is a licensed professional counselor who treats youth and adults with mild to moderate mental health issues. She earned a master’s degree in counseling from Delta State University, and has 23 years’ experience in the field.

Amy specializes in Motivational Interviewing, a counseling style centered around individual talk therapy. Motivational Interviewing is designed to strengthen a client’s commitment towards reaching goals, doing so in an environment of compassion, acceptance, and empowerment; recognizing the client’s autonomy, resourcefulness, and ability to choose.

Amy is trained in EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy, which is effective for treating PTSD, addiction, and anxiety. It incorporates elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), along with mindfulness, deep breathing, relaxation, and guided visualization.

As an extension of Amy’s counseling work, she is also a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT200). She enjoys the physical and mental benefits of yoga and passionately recommends it to anyone struggling with anxiety or seeking a key to relaxation.

She shares, “I believe that we are all individuals, and all perfectly ‘imperfect’. We all have gifts and weaknesses, and it’s all part of being human! I believe that with the proper tools and guidance, we can transcend our weaknesses and turn them into gifts, using our wisdom and experiences to support others who are suffering from trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, grief, or loss.

In her free time, Amy enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, and of course, practicing yoga.
