Shelby Reeves, LPC

Shelby Reeves, LPC

Shelby is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) who treats adults struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, identity issues, or relationship problems, build resilience, find healing, and pursue growth in their day-to-day lives.

She attended Delta State University and earned her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling in 2021. Before joining Phoenix, Shelby worked as an addiction counselor and as a university student counselor. She has experience in a variety of mental health subjects; namely, substance and alcohol misuse, codependency, trauma, crisis intervention, anxiety, depression, grief, and family conflict.

Shelby understands that each of us experiences the world differently for a multitude of reasons. She utilizes a relational-cultural approach in therapy to understand the way culture and connection impacts her clients. From that understanding, she creates a personalized approach that will usually include interventions from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Each one of these therapy styles emphasize balance, resilience, and growth as core aspects of the skill building process that Shelby helps to implement during her time in sessions.

Shelby tells us, “It can feel heavy to wear the burden of our fears, pain, confusion, and isolation alone. I believe therapy is a place to compassionately confront issues in our lives that have been difficult to face, to learn about how our experiences have shaped us, and how to continue navigating this life with that knowledge. I hope to empower individuals, create an environment of validation and support as well as guidance towards a healthier, more fulfilling life.”

In her free time, you can find Shelby walking or running on the beach with her dog, going to “hole in the wall” restaurants, art walks, or spending time with her grandma.
